A Better Way To Split the Restaurant’s Bill

When you dine out with friends, and you want to pay for your food and drinks, splitting the bill can be a source of misunderstanding among friends. It can be challenging to break bills fairly, without some problems, or having the waiters handle multiple credit cards, wasting time and often charging the wrong cards.

Scroll down to see how I envision the way to solve this problem with an App with an integrated QR Code reading option.

In order to function in the real world, a custom script needs to be installed on the restaurant’s system to print the QR code, witch links to the digital table order, allowing the App to read the order and the guests to select what they’ve ordered and pay for it.

Here is the process divided into 3 phases:

When the table asks for the bill, the waiter brings to the table the bill with the printed list of the order, and the QR code generated by the restaurant system;

The guests open the App Splittr
to login

The scanning option shows up and is ready to scan the QRCode

The digitalized bill is now loaded into the App and ready to be split up

When you proceed to split the bill, each guest can select what he/she has ordered.
The visual navigation facilitates the process, as well as the progress of the shared bill.
This system allows offering to pay the bill in full or partially, as shown in this presentation for the coffee.

When the selection is finished, the App will display the total amount each guest has to pay.

Review and select the tip percentage

Choose the payment method and pay

Done! You can now leave the restaurant
